Amman, Aug. 22 (Petra - Jordan News Agency) -- Teams from the Royal Jordanian Engineering Corps (RJEC) in Lebanon has defused a number of unexploded MK-84 bombs dropped by Israeli jets on Beirut's Rafiq Hariri International Airport, RJEC's commander in Lebanon Colonel Zuheir Azzam told Jordan News Agency.
According to Azzam, a total of 27 MK-84 bombs were dropped on the airport during the Israeli onslaught. "Now, The Airport is free of any unexploded bombs," the Colonel added.
The RJEC has started its mission in Beirut last Friday upon directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to help the Lebanese people and alleviate their suffering.
The engineering corps coordinates with the Lebanese Army and the Lebanese Higher Relief Commission to build bridges, as more than 80 bridges were destroyed during the Israeli attacks, Azzam noted.
