[Move To Unite Palestinian Street?] General Mufti: Al-Aqsa In High Risk

JERUSALEM, January 3, 2006 (WAFA- PLO news agency) - The General Mufti of Jerusalem and Palestine, Sheikh Ekrema Sabri, revealed Tuesday that the Israeli authorities have been, secretly, constructing a synagogue right beneath al- Aqsa holy Mosque.
Sabri was quoted as saying "such an Israeli violation was conducted under cover of excavation works, which jeopardize Al-Aqsa mosque," calling on the whole Islamic world to hastily act so as to deter such danger since "al-Aqsa Mosque is not only for the Palestinian people but also for all the Muslims worldwide."
"The Israeli authorities have been exploiting the big gates of the western side of al-Aqsa since 1996 through conducting a series of excavation works which ended with clandestinely erecting a synagogue," Sabri explained to WAFA.
He added that "constructing such a synagogue proves that the Israelis did not find any sign for the Temple, that is why they made up some rooms to vaguely narrate their religious history."
Worthily saying the synagogue is located in the western side under beneath the Moroccans' Gate. It consists of five rooms.
