NEW YORK, September 15, 2005 (WAFA - PLO News Agency)- Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser al-Kidwa said on Thursday the legal status of Gaza will not change and will stay a part of the Occupied Territory.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement that al-Kidwa met with several foreign minister on the margin of the 60th session of the United Nation General Assembly in New York.
The statement said that al Kidwa discussed several issues, including the Israeli withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, which he described as a positive step that may lead to results on the ground.
It added that the Minister tackled the unresolved issues such as the international crossings, the freedom of goods and people, the air and sea ports and the permanent passage between the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
Meanwhile, in a letter to the International Quartet, al-Kidwa warned of turning the checkpoints erected at the entrances of the Palestinian cities in the West Bank into international crossings.
The letter said this issue is totally connected to the issues of the Israeli colonial activity and building the Apartheid Wall in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
He demanded the Quartet to take clear stances to oblige Israel to stop all its practices against the Palestinian people.
