A Decree To Protect The Evacuated Lands From Misuse

GAZA, Palestine, August 21, 2005 (IPC)-[Official PA Website]- President Mahmoud Abbas (Abu Mazen) issued Saturday a presidential decree stating that the Palestinian National Authority control immediately all the evacuated lands in Gaza Strip and temporarily seize all the lands and assets in such areas.

The decree also forbids anyone whoever can make use the real estates.

The newly-formed ministerial committee will be responsible for all the needed measures to assume all duties in all domains after the Israeli withdrawal from Gaza Strip and Northern West bank.

President Abbas also demanded anyone who has a proof of ownership and title deeds in the lands evacuated by Israel to apply a request to chief of land authority Fureih Abu Medain for ascertaining the validity of the papers.

Abbas also referred that the ministerial committee has been informed by the chief of land authority Fureih Abu Medain, interior minister Nasser Yousef, finance minister Salam Fayad, public works and housing minister Mohammed Eshtatya, the governor of each district.

The committee, which was decided by the Prime Minister Ahamd Qurei on late 15 March, has to submit its periodic reports to the Cabinet to take the decision.

As for the administration of lands and assets, the decree stated that a dedicated committee will be formed upon a decision by the president of the Palestinian National authority on the issue.
