IDF Spokesperson Announcement
In a ceremony held today, March 17th, 2005, in the IDF Chief of Staff's headquarters, Maj. Gen Moshe Kaplinski replaced Maj. Gen Dan Halutz as IDF Deputy Chief of Staff, a position that Maj. Gen. Halutz had held since 2004. The ceremony was attended by Minister of Defense, Mr. Shaul Mofaz, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya'alon, the General Staff of the IDF and other guests.
Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh will replace Maj. Gen. Moshe Kaplinski as GOC of the Central Command. Maj. Gen. Kaplinski had filled the position since the summer of 2002. Maj. Gen. Dan Halutz is scheduled to replace Lt. Gen. Moshe Ya'alon as IDF Chief of Staff in June 2005.
Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh was born on 1957 and drafted in 1975 to the Golani Division. He held all positions in the Division from Company Commander to the duty of Division Commander.
Maj. Gen. Naveh has a Bachelor's Degree in History and Political Science and a Master's Degree in Business Management. He graduated with honors from the National Defense College and graduated from Command General Staff College.
Maj. Gen. Yair Naveh is married with four children.
Maj. Gen. Moshe Kaplinski was born on 1957 in Gedera.
Maj. Gen. Kaplinski is a graduate of the advanced field officers course in the United States, has a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business from Bar Ilan University and a an M.B.A with honors from Tel- Aviv University.
Maj. Gen. Kaplinski is married to Pnina and has two children.
