GAZA, Palestine, February 28, 2005 (IPC+ Al-Ayam)--[Official PA website] The Deputy Prime Minister and the Information Minister Dr. Nabil Sha'th warned Sunday that if the Israeli government return back to the assassination policy against the Palestinians, it will flame the violence cycle once again.
"We are in contact with the Israelis at all levels along with international parties concerned to secure the cease fire and evade the collapse of Sharm Al Sheikh summit understandings," Sha'th said in an interview with the local al Ayam daily.
In response to the Israeli announcement of freezing the handover of five areas of the West Bank and making beckon to stop contacts with PNA, Sha'th said "such measures will thwart the agreed upon understandings in Sharm Al Sheikh summit. Of course, I do not play down the crime perpetrated in Tel Aviv and I believe as Mr. Abbas said it is really an attempt of sabotage against the Palestinian people."
"I am satisfied with the announced commitments by all the Palestinian factions, which disclaim any responsibility for Tel Aviv bombing, and keeping stick with the cease fire understanding even despite the fact that the Israelis are using what happened in Tel Aviv as a pretext to spoil everything we agreed upon in Sharm Al Sheikh and if they actually back to he assassination they resurrect the violence and Sharm Al Sheikh understanding will be ended for ever," Sha'th told al Ayam local daily
Mr. Sha'th added that the occurrence of Tel Aviv bombing a few days before London Conference spur suspicion regarding its timing and goals.
"The timing of Tel Aviv attack comes to precede London Conference and to stop the Israeli withdrawals and gives the Israelis against the peace process the pretext to escalate the situation once again, "Sha'th said.
He also pointed out the Israeli government feverish expedition of the settlement activities is extremely unacceptable besides the Israeli slowness of the withdrawal from the cities all this precede Tel Aviv bombing . the Israelis goes sluggish in implementing Sharm Al Sheikh understandings and those who perpetrated Tel Aviv attacks offer the Israelis an extra excuses to go ahead in their procrastration.
Sha'th also said that, like Prime Minister Ahmed Qurie, he had decided after the attack that he would not be able to attend a conference in London aimed at preparing the Palestinians for statehood.
President Abbas, foreign minister Nasser Al Kidwa and finance minister Salam Fayad will still attend the meeting which opens tomorrow.
