Israel Television Channel Two Senior Arab Affairs correspondent, Ehud Yaari, broadcast this evening a clip from a speech by Brig. Mazen Izz Al Din- Chief of Political Indoctrination - Palestine National Security Forces - at a rally in Gaza today to praise the members of the Al Aqsa Brigade who had been in the Church of the Nativity and transferred to the Gaza Strip.
Mazen Izz Al Din said at the rally that "We have to truthful and honest and spell it out. One day history will expose the fact that the whole Intifada and its instructions came from Brother Commander Yasser Arafat."
Yaari told IMRA that immediately after this sentence, he continued, saying that "Arafat is in the front line of the first trench of the Intifada."
IMRA asked if it could have been an off-the-cuff remark caught in a live broadcast.
Yaari pointed out that it was clearly a prepared speech and that while it was broadcast in full on Palestinian Television, it was not broadcast live, thereby allowing for the material to be screened before broadcast.
